Finance, GST & Accounting guides

GST invoicing, accounting and purchases - explained step by step.

41 guides in 8 modules. One guide for every Finance screen. Each one says what the screen is for, how it works underneath, and walks you through it with screenshots from the live demo.

How the pieces fit together

Nothing is entered twice. A customer, an item or a vendor is set up once and every document after it reads from that record.

Sales

Customers, quotations and sales orders - everything before the invoice.

Invoicing

Invoices, recurring billing, credit notes and the companies you bill under.

Inventory

The item catalog, prices, units and warehouses every document reads from.

GST

GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B data prep, and the HSN/SAC code master behind every tax line.

Accounting

The ledger behind it all - accounts, journals, budgets, assets and branches.

Banking

Bank accounts, statement import and reconciliation.

Reports

Financial statements, aging and cash flow.

Purchases & Expenses

Vendors, purchase orders, bills, expenses, mileage and cheques.

Common questions

Can I try Sayl Finance without signing up?
Yes. The live demo is a real Sayl workspace with sample customers, quotations, invoices, vendors and bills. It needs no sign-up, and nothing you do in it is saved.
Does Sayl Finance handle GST?
Yes. Each document works out CGST and SGST for supplies within your state and IGST between states, and the GST Returns page prepares GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B data from your invoices. It is a workpaper for your accountant or the GST portal - Sayl does not file returns for you.
Is it real double-entry accounting?
Yes. Issuing an invoice, recording a payment or opening a bill posts balanced entries to a general ledger with a chart of accounts, and the trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet are all read from that same ledger.
Where do I start?
Follow the sales path: add a customer, raise a quotation, convert it to a sales order or invoice, then record the payment. The modules below follow the same order as the Finance menu in the app.
